How to Stop Smoking by Investing an in E Cigarette

There are many habits that are bad for us, such as drinking too much alcohol, eating fast food and taking recreational drugs but one of the most addictive and most deadly bad habits out there is smoking cigarettes. This is why it is important to be able to kick the bad habit and long gone are the days when the only aids that you could use were tasteless chewing gum and nicotine patches, as now there is something new on the market that is proving to be not only popular but extremely effective – the e cigarette.

Smoking electronic cigarettes is an effective way to help you to give up smoking for good and there are many benefits to using e cigarettes over other aids. It is easy to buy e cigs in Australia, England, the USA, New Zealand – in fact, they are readily available almost all over the world and they allow smokers to kick their bad habit with ease.

Quit Smoking

Here’s a summary about why smoking e cigarettes is a great way to help people to quit smoking regular cigarettes:

  • You can still feel like you are smoking, as they produce a vapour that looks like smoke
  • You can continue to pull a cigarette to your mouth and smoke it like you would with a regular cigarette, meaning that you don’t need to break that part of the habit as well quitting the nicotine
  • You can control how much nicotine liquid you use in your e cigarette

The main problem for many smokers when it comes to giving up and kicking the bad habit is that they find it hard to stop the action of smoking, just as much as they crave the hit of nicotine. If it was only about the craving, then there’s no reason why patches and gum don’t work for everyone who has ever tried to quit.

This is what make e cigs so unique, as smokers who want to quit smoking real cigarettes that are full of deadly chemicals and toxins can still do the smoking action but without the dangerous consequences.

Get Comfortable

It is important to take your time when you first get your e cigarette, as it can take a while to feel comfortable using it. Many people will start out by getting the strongest possible e cigarette and many claim that this is the best way to get started, as it is easy to reduce the amount of nicotine after you get used to using it.

Choose a Flavour

There are all kinds of flavoured e-liquids available, namely:

  • Cherry, raspberry and apple
  • Orange, watermelon and blueberry
  • Chocolate, coffee and cola
  • Whiskey
  • Regular tobacco
  • Menthol

Once you find a flavour and you get used to using the electronic cigarette, then it’s time to reduce how much nicotine you take in and then switch to the low e-liquid, before finally taking the plunge into zero nicotine and you can go through this process in just a few weeks, take some months to do it or even spend more than a year if that is what it takes.

Learn More About Lasik Surgery

If you are one of the many adults who are considering LASIK eye surgery, then you have come to the right place. This article aims to help you have a better understanding of what LASIK surgery is.

First and foremost, for you to know if you are a good candidate for LASIK, you need to undergo a comprehensive eye examination. Visit an eye specialist to ensure that this treatment is the right solution to your problem. In addition to LASIK, there are also other types of refractive surgeries. One option you have is Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK). This type of eye surgery offers the same benefits as LASIK but is more suitable for patients with thinner corneas. A patient may also be advised to undergo ReLEx® Smile. ReLEx® Smile, or Refractive LEnticule Extraction, SMall Incision Lenticule Extaction is a surgery that is done through keyhole incision. This procedure is fast, gentle on the eye and results in lesser dry eyes.

You will only need about 1-2 hours to undergo this eye exam, to know which of these refractive surgeries are suitable for you. Should you be a suitable candidate for LASIK after the assessment, here are some of the things you need to know.

LASIK or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis is a popular refractive surgery performed around the world. In LASIK eye surgery, a thin flap in the patient’s cornea will be created using a femtosecond laser. The surgeon will lift the flap, and then removes some corneal tissue underneath by using an excimer laser.

After the surgery here are some of the things you can expect and need to do:

Temporary eye discomfort –  you may experience mild irritation or discomfort in the eye after the surgery. Your eyes may also be sensitive, but do not be tempted to touch it.

Complication with flap – as mentioned above, your surgeon will create a thin-hinged flap on the front surface of the cornea during the surgery. This is to access the stroma or the underlying cornea. Flap risks can also have complications, which include:

  • Free caps or flaps without a hinge
  • Irregular corneal flaps
  • Flaps that are too small or too thin
  • Buttonholes (small holes or tears in the center of the flap)

Appearance of glares or halos – after the operation, you may experience visual disturbances such as glares or halos, especially in low-light environments. This is a common problem, and could occur after the first few months of your surgery. These symptoms gradually subside, and ventually resolve after a few months.

Dry eyes syndrome due to corneal nerves being severed during LASIK, dry eyes are expected after the operation. Dry eyes can cause discomfort or even blurry vision. If this happens, inform your doctor so that they can give you lubricating eye drops to alleviate the discomfort.

The day after surgery, you will be asked to return to see your eye doctor. This follow up is important, as your doctor will test your vision and prescribe medication to prevent infections. He will also advise you on when it is appropriate to return to doing sports or going for facials and spas. Do not miss your scheduled appointments so as to ensure the continued health of your eyes!

The Future after Successful Alcohol Rehab

If you have ever been addicted to any substances you will know that you never believe it will happen to you.  You will also be aware that it can happen to anyone; it is often a response to large amounts of stress.  Unfortunately there is an increasing amount of stress when living in the modern world.  There is a constant pressure to look your best, to feel your best and work harder than anyone else.  This pressure often takes its toll and ultimately results in a need for a release: this is often alcohol because it is easily accessible and legal.

Recognizing you have a problem in respect of your alcohol consumption is the essential first step to being able to stop.  You cannot change a habit easily and many people will turn to an alcohol rehab clinic for assistance.

The Approach

Most alcohol rehab clinics will adopt a similar approach.  You will need to reduce your intake or stop it all together.  Through a carefully controlled procedure your body will adjust to not having alcohol inside it and will stop craving it.  Providing you stay away from alcohol in the future you are unlikely to have a repeat problem.  However, this is where the real issue lies.  Once you have accepted that you need help it is relatively simple to remove your dependency on alcohol.  This is because you become part of an alcohol rehab clinic and are guided through the process; one step at a time.  If you are treated at the clinic then all outside issues and potential diversions are removed and you will become alcohol free.  But, to ensure a successful treatment you will need to stay away from alcohol; this is much more difficult when you return to your old life:

Temptation

Even if your friends know you have been to an alcohol rehab clinic they may still expect you to act and behave in the same way as before the clinic.  This may mean they expect you to join them on drunken nights out and continue to be the life and soul of any party.  This is one of the most difficult parts of your future after alcohol rehab; learning to say no and sticking to your decision even if this results in a loss of some friends.

Support

The only way that you will be able to survive the traumatic side effects of recovering from alcohol rehab is to use the support offered by the clinic and by your loved ones.  There will be times when you are struggling to cope with saying no to drink, or you may even experience cravings.  This is when you will be most vulnerable and will be most likely to succumb to temptation.  In order to make a success of your alcohol rehab treatment you will need to enlist all the support available to keep you strong and focused on living a live without alcohol.

Although the patch may be difficult at times, it will become easier and you will be grateful that you stuck with it.
